The Main Agenda Panel Discussion
The move towards the Third Network means a retooling of the traditional telecoms network, from physical implementation to the operational on demand services, so a lot of different areas need to be proven to make it work. Proofs of Concept are all about validating new business processes and technologies, and confirming that interoperability between the different system will work in the live environment of carriers.
Work still needs to be done on transferring this into a full operational environment, with the substantial integration work that implies, especially where there are no predefined standards. The real test will be when telcos deploy these new concepts in front of customers, when their configuration changes to end-to-end services don't affect other parts of the network.
