Laying the foundations for 5G
In this special extended version of Inside the Labs, TelecomTV visits one of the world's leading centres for wireless research as it prepares to open the doors to its new £70m dedicated 5G Innovation Centre. The centre will facilitate collaboration between academics, vendors and operators, and will feature an open, end-to-end 5G testbed, focused first on LTE-Advanced technologies and then 5G technologies from 2018, once standards work gets underway. The team has already filed numerous new wireless patents, on behalf of its founding partners, and aims to become the world's premiere 5G research centre.
