Prayson Pate says "The time is now and NFV is go!" but adds that although the technology is maturing and is increasingly being deployed in areas such as vCPE, VPNs, SD WANs, NFV is not yet a universally-applicable nostrum for problems of the world's comms networks. He adds that to take full advantage of the many benefits that NFV can offer, service providers really do need to change, re-invent themselves and work in partnership and collaboration with manufacturers, vendors and their customers and user base.
