Operators have an interest from the customer perspective to have one global standard. Having done this with 4G, the NGMN (next generation mobile network group) want to continue the work with 5G. A White Paper on 5G and associated user cases was released in March, but now the work moves to bring these goals into the standardisation process. Collaboration with other industry bodies, organisations and vendors is going to be essential to achieve the aim of a 2020 commercial launch.
