Qualcomm and TelecomTV are undertaking an online survey designed to identify what the mobile industry itself thinks are the major technical and business issues driving it today.
The results will be collated and analysed and the results published by TelecomTV in this newsletter’s March issue.
Over the last 20 years the mobile phone has evolved from rich man’s plaything to common denominator: a ‘must-have’ human accoutrement produced by the billion and distributed to every corner of the planet. Today no matter where you are, who you are, or what you are (a herdsman in Africa or a small farmer in France) the chances are very high that you have your own mobile number..
or you’ll know someone who has.
All this has happened terribly fast in human terms so it’s hardly surprising that
nobody - least of all the professionals and companies who unleashed the technology in the first place -
know where it’s leading. Which is why Qualcomm is putting its weight behind this mobile industry survey. The survey won’t illuminate all the known unknowns, certainly not all the unknown unknowns, but we think we can at least shed some
light on what the industry - in aggregate -
thinks is happening and is going to happen. That’s a good start.
