New industry organization created to promote collaboration among the Network Economy’s technology providers and to facilitate the implementation of Network Intelligence technology in IT and telecom solutions.

Paris, France – October 20, 2010 – Qosmos (www.qosmos.com), the leading provider of Network Intelligence (NI) technology, today announced the launch of the Network Intelligence Alliance, consisting of technology providers involved in traffic capture, processing, decoding, analysis, leveraging of data as it crosses communications networks.

People, businesses and governments depend on the Internet every day, making real-time visibility and deeper understanding of data in transit crucial in today’s Network Economy. The need to better track, optimize and monetize this data has led to the emergence of solutions based on Network Intelligence technology that captures, extracts and identifies the data in real time, with great accuracy.

Network Intelligence technology is used in a wide range of solutions requiring visibility into data as it transits networks, including cyber security, financial transaction tracking, lawful interception, service assurance (QoS and QoE), traffic optimization and Web market research.

The Network Intelligence Alliance (NI Alliance) serves two purposes:

  • First, as a forum for collaboration among technology providers whose solutions secure data in transit, ensure efficient data delivery, monetize data transactions or track real-time information. Through the NI Alliance, members can optimize technology integration, ensure efficient deployment of new, innovative solutions that improve the performance and security of network, application and services and create higher value for joint customers.
  • Second, the NI Alliance seeks to promote new standards and educate the market on the role and value of Network Intelligence in protecting sensitive information, delivering value-added services, applications and information, and ensuring better performance of network-dependent solutions.

“Just as business intelligence emerged to provide greater visibility into disparate sources of business data, Network Intelligence is emerging as a category to provide the same for networks,” said Brian Partridge, Vice President of Yankee Group's network research. “We have been following the rise of network intelligence solutions and see their use growing in better securing, tracking and monetizing data across networks, devices, and users. Collaborative groups such as the NI Alliance will help to educate the market on this important area.”

The NI Alliance was initiated by Qosmos, whose technology components play a crucial part in Network Intelligence by extracting and translating all the “0s and 1s” of data steams into their respective communication protocols, content and metadata.

Qosmos software and hardware components are embedded into third-party solutions, and as a driving force behind the NI Alliance, Qosmos expands its collaborative approach to help vendors design and deliver advanced solutions with Network Intelligence technology in less time and at lower cost.

“We launched the NI Alliance as a way to bring together the vendors who build the core of network and IT infrastructure that supports the Network Economy and whose solutions depend on real-time visibility of data in motion,” said Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO of Qosmos. “Together, we are adding a real-time dimension to the information value chain in order to better understand, build out and advance the Network Economy.”

Founding members of the NI Alliance include:

  • Infrastructure suppliers for traffic capture and processing, namely, Continuous Computing, Napatech, NetLogic Microsystems, and Tilera
  • Qosmos, the leading supplier of Network Intelligence technology
  • Software vendors, namely, Click&DECiDE, Crossing-Tech, BreakingPoint Systems, and EdenWall Technologies, Rainstor, GfK Group

About the NI Alliance

The NI Alliance is an industry organization created for collaboration among the Network Economy’s technology providers and to educate the market on the role and value of Network Intelligence technology. Members are vendors involved in the capture, processing, decoding, analysis, and leveraging of network data; suppliers of Network Intelligence technology components; software vendors; and information providers of solutions, such as cyber security, financial transaction tracking, lawful interception, service assurance, traffic optimization and Web market research. Participation in the NI Alliance helps members to build and market innovative solutions to Communications Service Providers (CSPs) governments and enterprise customers seeking to improve performance, security and the monetization of network-dependent services and applications.
