By embedding advanced DPI and Network Intelligence technology from Qosmos into its products, nMetrics will reduce timelines for improving product capabilities, customer value and business opportunities in the fast moving network management market.
Qosmos today announced that nMetrics, a leading developer of network and application monitoring and reporting solutions, has chosen Qosmos Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and metadata-driven Network Intelligence (NI) technology to expand the real-time visibility and business value of nMetrics products used by enterprise and SME firms across a range of industries.
By leveraging Qosmos technology, nMetrics products can identify, monitor and report the growing number of applications at layer 7 of the OSI model, independently of ports. nMetrics can also provide new metrics with more intuitive reporting and much better understanding of applications and network performance, even for non-technical decision makers, making it easier for customers to identify and correct the root causes of problems that can occur on increasingly stressed networks.
nMetrics new generation products take advantage of the strong layer 7 inspection capability enabled by the Qosmos ixEngine which decodes and classifies protocols and applications using DPI; extracts NI metadata from protocols and applications at wire speeds; and correlates information at flow, session, application and end-user levels.
“To attempt to build these advanced DPI and NI capabilities in-house would have been an enormous task, delaying our time to market with powerful product enhancements that our customers would prefer to have now,” said David Britt, CTO at nMetrics. “Instead, we chose the pre-developed, best-in-class Qosmos technology to embed into our solutions—to better support existing customers and address the urgent demand for deeper network visibility from managed service providers and cloud vendors.”
“Companies like nMetrics, who are supporting customers and looking to expand their base for high-performance network solutions, can no longer afford the time, cost and risk associated with long-development projects.
With the increasing acceptance of cloud computing, social networking as a marketing tool and many other factors, the burdens on networks are mounting too fast,” said Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO at Qosmos. “Rather than attempt to re-invent technology that Qosmos has developed and refined for more than 10 years, nMetrics smartly chose to focus on their core business and use Qosmos to help accelerate their product roadmap.”
