Carrier IQ has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. It stands accused – ironically enough by Eric Schmidt the chairman of Google, among many others – of using its software embedded in smartphones to spy on users, collect their personal data and to capture every keystroke they make.

Carrier IQ admits that it did initially try to kill the story but denies absolutely that its software is anything but a diagnostic tool for network operators and a benign customer care enabler.

So where does the truth lie? Judge for yourselves by watching TelecomTV’s exclusive interview with Andrew Coward, CMO of Carrier IQ.

I was expecting a critical interview, but this was just organized PR for the company. What Mr Coward said does not in any way refute the findings. What was the point of the interview?
