Executive Insight: Why everything that can benefit from being connected will have a connection

Magnus Furustam, Vice President and Head of Product Area Core and IMS, Ericsson on M2M (Explanation: M2M) as the next frontier for telcos. With most of the world's human population signed up for communications services, he says, telcos have to move on and hook up the infrastructure. Everything is in place, chipsets are going down in price and the networks are there.

But, says Magnus,  telcos will need to pick their competitive home ground carefully. Being a one-stop-shop will be very difficult and partnerships will be key.
