FiberCorp announced that it will offer virtual private services (VPS) to its customers as part of a cloud services family of services based on Cisco networking technology.
The VPS initiative is scheduled to launch in 2012. FiberCorp offers integral telecommunications solutions to large, medium-sized and small companies as well as stores, professional organizations and governmental entities.
Unlike a traditional server, this new service gives the client access to a virtual infrastructure where processing, memory and disk space are combined according to need.
Companies will be able to run their applications, perform activities, and host their data in a virtual infrastructure with a high degree of security without the expense of acquiring and maintaining equipment.
Virtual Private Services to 25,000 Customers in Argentina
- This first cloud service offered by FiberCorp is mounted on an operating platform called FlexPod, which combines networking, computing and storing in a shared infrastructure. This platform is formed by Cisco network products (Nexus 7000, 5000 and 2000 Series solutions and Cisco UCS servers), VMware virtualization solutions and NetApp storage.
- No equipment is installed; it is hired as a service, called IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).
- Desca was the Cisco Gold Certified Partner in charge of the implementation.
"Virtualization is part of our constant way to innovation, which allows us to share the process of expansion of our customers and the technology of the future. Cisco helps us create the technological structure which supports our services," said Ignacio Ardohain, commercial manager, FiberCorp.
He added, "Today, any company in Argentina, despite its size, can access the latest technology without an investment in equipment; it just needs to hire our service, which will surely help it optimize its business."
