Third quarter market analysis reports from Dell’Oro and Infonetics confirm Alcatel-Lucent’s leadership in fixed broadband access
At a glance:
-
3Q’12 DSL vendor assessment from Dell’Oro[1] shows that Alcatel-Lucent remains the world’s leading DSL supplier – not only in terms of overall DSL shipments, but also ranking first in the newer-generation IP DSL and VDSL technology categories
-
For the second quarter in a row, Alcatel-Lucent breaks the barrier of 1 million gigabit passive optical network (GPON) ports shipped; moreover, analyst firm Infonetics[2] has identified Alcatel-Lucent as the quarter’s leading supplier of point-to-point fiber solutions
-
Alcatel-Lucent not only leads by numbers; the company continues to drive innovation in copper and fiber, as is shown by the recently announced Zero-Touch Vectoring and Embedded OTDR technology breakthroughs
-
Alcatel-Lucent’s “Get to Fast, Faster” campaign – which is built around the company’s fixed access assets – continues to resonate with service providers around the world; recent announcements include projects with Azteca Comunicaciones (Colombia), Belgacom (Belgium), BTES (US), TDC (Denmark) and Türk Telekom (Turkey).
Federico Guillen, heading Alcatel-Lucent’s Wireline activities as from January 1st, 2013:
“Leading by numbers is great – but what is even more exciting, is to have a look at the variety of customer projects behind the numbers. During the last few weeks, we have been talking about our point-to-point fiber win with Azteca Comunicaciones in Colombia, our VDSL2 Vectoring projects with Belgacom and TDC Denmark, a nationwide VDSL2 contract with Türk Telekom and a 1Gbps GPON project with BTES in the US. What these projects have in common, is the fact that they rely on the versatility of Alcatel-Lucent’s ISAM family of fixed access products – supporting copper and fiber on the same platform for a cost-effective mix of FTTx deployment models. It tells me that Alcatel-Lucent’s ‘Get to Fast, Faster’ value proposition is clearly catching on – and poised for further growth.”
