" This is a much deeper story than the public knows. Verizon is actually in big big trouble!!! They have stopped their fiber to the home project, which is a technical disaster that will eventually lead to their destruction. Why?? Wireless does not have the bandwidth to carry all the new technologies. Presently, Verizon is purchasing a great deal of their back-haul (wireless fiber optic cable access to the internet) from the CATV companies. Without fiber optic cables, wireless has data overload. Look at ATT's Iphone problems. The Clearwire/Sprint/CATV joint venture is just now starting to take off. It's 4G WiMax acceptance is blowing Verizon away everywhere it is available. Verizon's 4G LTE is just a technical illusion (no standard, no standard equipment, won't be available until 2012). Despite Verizon's lame attempt to deploy non-standard LTE it won't work. It's a technical disaster when all the equipment has to be eventually replaced with correct Wimax/LTE stuff. That's why ATT has not done the same thing, i.e., deploy non-standard, non-tested LTE. The CATV's are in position to rock Verizon's wireless business. They and Vonage are already taking Verizon's phone business with VoIP. Verizon is desperate, and is firing wireless employees everywhere to cut their losses. Senior people are being let go in mass!! Verizon will be a mess in less than 18 months. Vodaphone can then pick them up for next to nothing if they still want them. DON'T LISTEN TO THE VERIZON BS HYPE! THEY ARE IN MASSIVE TROUBLE, EVEN IF THEY WON'T ADMIT IT!! "
" This BS Quasi Standard like LTE is just another attempt by the Carriers to block access to open networks. They just want to control you, so that you do not have access to competing networks. I'd ask every consumer to never support Carrier attempts to lock you into future networks that are neither better nor more advanced than the free Standards already in place. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers: the IEEE, has always been recognized as the last word in world electrical and electronic standards. They have given us Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth, and WiMax. They are open standards agreed to by the best experts in the world from Consumers, Carriers, and Manufactures. The only reason these QUACK standards are being proposed is because the carriers are trying to protect their existing low-tech networks from becoming obsolete. REJECT THEM ALL!!!! They are frightened of VoIP networks that allow unmetered access to standard voice lines worldwide. They talk them down, even while they use them to carry your voice connection themselves. They are scared to death of the inevitable VoIP of Cell phones. They don't want you to have open access G3, or G4 on your cell phone. Because, they think they might lose the voice business. Instead of running around wasting money and time trying to stop Wi-Fi and WiMax, they need to get out front and sell broadband open access connectivity. There is more money in it, and their future depends on it. "
