Big Data allows you to get insight, find hidden opportunities or do business differently, Hannah Jones of Nike tells Martyn Warwick.
Nike had 75,000 materials they were using for their clothing and footwear, but had no information about them. So they collected all the data, did some analysis of the materials' lifecycles and ended up with a sustainability index that helps Nike designers pick the optimum mix of materials.
This interview was conducted in London at FT Innovate 2012, an international conference designed to showcase ways of employing new technologies and big data to unlock new markets.
