Huge businesses, such as YouTube or Tumblr, have in recent years been built around the trend to user generated and curated content. But already change is in the air, according to Charlie Marshall, Strategy Lead, Media & Entertainment Industry, Accenture, talking to Martyn Warwick at IBC 2012.

 
User generated content (UCG) has its place, but from a media perspective it usually falls short on quality and production values. So we're now seeing a new trend to 'prosumer' content with the emergence of the 'semi-professional'  content producer with access to powerful new (increasingly cloud-based) editing and production tools.

Ian Scales talks to IBC's chief executive officer Michael Crimp about the huge expansion of the area  - from content creation to content delivery across all sorts of networks. IBC started with B2B but with digital has grown to encompass new areas.  The latest hot buttons are 3D and IPTV. It all amounts to what Michael calls the Armchair Revolution, but IBC is not going to change its format. The real value of IBC, says Michael, is to have one big show and that's the way it's going to stay.
