But for companies it's really about the combination of data available inside the organisation coupled with data that may come from outside, Aimie Chapple, Managing Director, Management Consulting at Accenture, tells Martyn Warwick. The key - and where M2M crosses over with Big Data - is to combine different data sources and types to create value?

User generated content (UCG) has its place, but from a media perspective it usually falls short on quality and production values. So we're now seeing a new trend to 'prosumer' content with the emergence of the 'semi-professional' content producer with access to powerful new (increasingly cloud-based) editing and production tools.
