Telcos have been busy connecting peer-to-peer alliances for regional and global reach but despite the hype, says Ovum analyst Jeremy Green, those sorts of use cases are a small part of the pie.  In fact the key area is not connectivity - which is pretty-much a commodity - but in the applications and integration. And all this year's noise about Internet of Things probably means - on past industry experience - that it's about five years off, but the key might be plug-in modules that can make dumb things smart and can be installed with an app to make it do useful things.

They think WiFi might win out over Femtos and they cast their minds way back to the 1990s and the Telco alliance bubble. Like SpinVox, well and truly burst.
