The goal with the new technologies, NFV and SDN, is to increase operational efficiency - that gives operators the oxygen to innovate, Bhaskar tells Martyn Warwick. All the functions Alcatel-Lucent already has live in the network are on a virtualisation and cloudification journey. The main strands for Alcatel-Lucent are Virtual Network Functons, Software Defined Networks; NFV and its Lean NFV Operations concept that ties all those things together.
