Ericsson appoints Daniel Leimbach as new head of customer unit for western Europe

  • Daniel Leimbach takes on the role of Head of Customer Unit Western Europe as of May 1st, 2023 – in addition to his role as Managing Director of Ericsson Germany.
  • He is responsible for Ericsson's business in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland with some of the world's most advanced communication service providers as customers.
  • Leimbach has been with Ericsson for more than 15 years, most recently as Acting Head of Customer Unit Western Europe.

As of 1 May 2023, Daniel Leimbach will take over the position of Head of Customer Unit Western Europe for Ericsson – in addition to his role as Managing Director of Ericsson Germany. Based in Düsseldorf, he will lead the business with customers in Germany, the Netherlands & Switzerland. The key topics of his management agenda are translating Ericsson innovations into pioneer projects with customers, implementing sustainable mobile broadband communication solutions and the use of 5G technology in Industry 4.0, mission-critical infrastructure as well as new consumer services.

The 42-year-old emphasises: "At Ericsson, sustainability and business success go hand in hand. The key to this is Ericsson´s leading innovative mobile broadband communications technology. We are taking an active approach to 'breaking the energy curve', which means to be more efficient with new generations of telecom infrastructure to reduce energy consumption and, with that, pioneer a more sustainable future."

Daniel Leimbach has been with Ericsson for more than 15 years. After starting as a Key Account Manager in 2007, he rose to Vice President in 2011 and took responsibility for customers including Telefónica Germany and Vodafone Germany and has also been working for Ericsson in Asia. Since 2022, he was Acting Head and responsible for several customers in Western Europe. Prior to his career at Ericsson, he worked at Alcatel-Lucent. Leimbach holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, a Diploma in Business Administration (BA) and a bachelor’s degree from the Open University of London.

The three countries are hosting over 3.300 employees supporting Ericsson key customers like Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Telefónica, Swisscom, KPN and T-Mobile Netherlands.
