Ken Mawbey says he sees telco software solutions as being “absolutely 100%” in the public cloud. “In recent times we’ve seen telcos very focused on network transformation - NFV and SDN - and that’s been very beneficial to them. But what we see moving forward is that they’re recognising the strategic imperative to move to the public Cloud and cloud-native technologies,” he remarked. This is due to the significant operational savings telcos will be able to make at a time when they are capex-strapped due to their investments in 5G and IoT. However, the real business benefits derive from the ability to create new, innovative digital services as a result of cloud adoption, according to Mawbey.
