Meet the 17th Annual TM Forum Excellence Awards Winners

Copenhagen, June 18, 2024 – TM Forum, the leading global alliance of telco and tech companies, **** today reveals the winners of its 2024 Excellence Awards, in a celebration that closed the first day of its global summit DTW24 – Ignite.

With more than 200 entries from 69 different companies across the six categories, this year’s awards saw an even higher quality and diversity of entries from across the globe. Following thorough evaluation by a panel of 35 independent industry experts, the judges selected 39 finalists after three rounds of judging.

As a neutral, non-profit organization, TM Forum’s Excellence Awards ensure a prestigious and impartial view, celebrating the success of key industry players and delivering unrivalled industry exposure and valuable peer recognition.

“This year, TM Forum’s Excellence Awards honor exceptional initiatives driving efficiency, profitability and growth. As members embrace composable IT, Open Digital Architecture (ODA), AI, Customer Experience and autonomous networks the entries have been more competitive than ever, making them a challenge to judge,” said Camille Mendler, Chief Analyst at Omdia and Head External Judge. “Congratulations to the winners who continue to drive innovation, leading the industry to new heights.”

Excellence in ODA Implementation: Bell Canada

Customer 360 with ODA.

Bell Canada has been recognized for its transformative Customer 360 program using the industry-standard ODA blueprint. By addressing legacy system challenges and enhancing customer data integration, Bell Canada has set a benchmark for how composable IT & ecosystems can drive operational efficiency and enhance customer experiences, resulting in significant growth in their B2B business.

Excellence in Customer Experience:** **Netcracker & Virgin Media O2

A unified 360-degree customer view across channels, resulting in increased NPS.

Virgin Media O2 and Netcracker, have been recognized for their ambitious digital transformation initiative by unifying different businesses together under one modernized Digital BSS platform by Netcracker. Delivered in one year, the project reduced time-to-market for new services, creating a unified 360-degree customer view across all channels, with increased NPS through the application of customer experience assets and 19 TM Forum Open APIs.

Excellence in Innovation for People & Planet: China Mobile and Huawei

A Green Network and Ocean Care to Create a Clean, Safe Environment and well-being for the people of Jiangsu.

China Mobile and Huawei’s “Green Network and Ocean Care” project has been awarded for its pioneering efforts in integrating 5G, AI and Marine IoT technologies, demonstrating impactful benefits for marine workers, the environment, and broader societal goals. The integrated Marine IoT and 5G solution built using TM Forum’s AIOps Framework and Ecosystem Open APIs has created a connected system for ship protection, clean oceans, and enhanced well-being for fishermen and marine workers

Excellence in Autonomous Networks:** **Telstra

Knowledge Graph and Telco Ontology Innovation.

Telstra’s in-house knowledge graph has been awarded for redefining service management through autonomous network operations. Fully built on TM Forum’s Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) and ODA, this project serves as Telstra’s foundation in the journey towards a Level 5 autonomous network. The innovation changes how they model networks and service operations, eliminating reliance on static workflows.

Excellence in AI Innovation:** Nokia and **China Mobile

GenAI for Autonomous Network Operations.

China Mobile and Nokia have been honored for their GenAI solution in autonomous network operations. Leveraging the LangChain framework and TM Forum Autonomous Network Operations and Business Process Framework, this solution integrates open-sourced Large Language Models (LLMs), localized knowledge centers, and diverse use cases. By embedding AI into redesigned processes and business functions, the providers are accelerating, de-risking, and reducing the costs of applying AI, cutting OPEX and driving growth.

Excellence in Network Monetization:** etisalat by e& **and Novatiq

Data-driven insights enhancing customer experience and driving growth through internal and external monetization.

etisalat by e& partnered with Novatiq to introduce a pioneering Privacy-Centric Data Monetization solution using TM Forum’s Data Governance Framework. This initiative highlights the innovative use of network capabilities to derive data-driven insights, significantly enhancing customer experience and driving new monetization strategies, reflecting the importance of leveraging data and AI to unlock new revenue streams.

In addition, due to a large volume of high-quality entries this year, the judges selected two entries for Highly Commended recognition. These were:

Highly Commended

Excellence in Customer Experience: Ericsson & Celcomdigi

Innovative, Predictive and Proactive Approach to Service Differentiation.

Ericsson’s Customer Experience Insights implemented using TM Forum’s Customer Experience Maturity Model, was deployed in CelcomDigi’s network, provided a unique solution that correlates subscriber feedback with both network & non-network data to uncover major factors driving customer satisfaction.

Highly Commended

Excellence in Autonomous Networks: IOH (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison) & Huawei

IOH Autonomous transformation.

IOH collaborated with Huawei on the Autonomous Operations Transformation. Adopting the TMF Autonomous Operation Maturity Model (AOMM), IOH developed a new digital operation framework that supports all O&M scenarios, improving availability and experience.

“These awards recognize the success of members in collaborating to deliver stand-out products and services through the application of new technologies and TM Forum frameworks and standards,” said Nik Willetts, CEO. “The winning entries exemplify the work of our members in tackling some of the industry’s most pressing challenges and provide a prescription for growth by demonstrating real-world impact. It’s especially pleasing to have received a greater number of entries from individual Member companies, and my congratulations to everyone recognized today.”
