  • Vodafone returns as Glastonbury’s Official Connectivity Partner for the second year of their multi-year partnership, and is boosting its network to deliver the most capacity ever at Worthy Farm, with 10 masts installed around the festival.
  • Vodafone will be rolling out this trial to other events throughout the summer, such as Wimbledon, Boardmasters Festival and Kendal Calling.

Vodafone has announced today that it will be offering non-Vodafone Glastonbury attendees the opportunity to participate in a free eSIM network trial on its reliable, award-winning network*.

Festivalgoers who can’t connect to their current network provider, or those who fancy testing The Nation’s Network, can simply scan one of the QR codes by the Vodafone Connect & Charge stand, or follow the link in the Official Glastonbury App, to get 50GB data, 500 minutes and 500 texts for seven days.

As the trial will run on eSIM technology, users won’t have to change their number or swap their SIM card; they can simply switch between Vodafone’s network and their current provider easily and seamlessly through their device settings.

With Vodafone predicting data consumption will rise above 215 terabytes at the festival, ensuring fans have reliable connectivity is essential. Whether it is sharing their favourite performances on social media, connecting with friends at the festival or staying in contact with loved ones watching at home, Vodafone’s network trial will help keep more fans connected.

In addition to accessing a best-in-class network, a Glastonbury app packed with useful features is key to creating the ultimate festival experience. This year’s app, developed by Vodafone, is full of various never-before-seen features to help visitors get the most out of the festival. It has everything from Map Pinning, Spotify Integration and upgraded Line-Up features to massively benefit fans, making their Glastonbury experience even more seamless.

Vodafone is boosting its network for Glastonbury Festival to provide the most capacity ever at Worthy Farm, with 10 masts and five small cells deployed around the festival site. Vodafone’s increased capacity will ensure it delivers an incredible network experience and guarantee that attendees can stay in touch with friends and family, as well as share all their amazing content from the weekend.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director for Vodafone UK, said: “As The Nation’s Network, we want to connect the nation to the people and the things they love, and our Glastonbury network trial is just one way we are doing this. We know how important it is for festivalgoers to stay connected, so they can contact their friends and share content that captures their favourite moments across the weekend.

“Our eSIM network trial will offer non-Vodafone customers the chance to trial our network if they can’t connect to their own provider and, with Vodafone delivering the most capacity ever at Worthy Farm, we will offer them a compelling network experience.”

As The Nation’s Network, Vodafone prides itself on delivering the best network experience for businesses and customers at some of the UK’s most memorable events. As such, it isn’t just Glastonbury Festival attendees who will benefit from this network trial. Vodafone is planning on rolling this out to other events throughout the summer, such as Wimbledon, Boardmasters Festival and Kendal Calling.

Vodafone has a long heritage in serving the UK, since the very first mobile phone call was made over its network in 1984. Today, 40 years on, it: offers 4G coverage to 99% of UK households; is the network of choice for 82% of the country’s emergency services; and connects more than 550,000 unique business customers across the UK.
