It is becoming increasingly important that the telecoms industry engages with the major vertical industries in order to fulfill the promise and potential of 5G. But there are many cross-industry standards implications, including how to develop a working “trust” between the verticals and telecoms operators and vendors? In Europe, the EU is running a number of technical programmes and proofs of concept to demonstrate 5G’s capabilities via the 5G-PPP initiative, and is now moving to investigate the socio-economic potential.
