Although once disruptive in its one right, some hundreds of years ago, insurance today is a venerable, traditional, conservative and, some would say, complacent industry; risk-averse, change averse and content within the confines of the status quo. However, as Oliver Werneyer of Swiss Re explains, the Internet, the Internet of Things, broadband, wireless and mobile technologies are forcing change to this staid sector and long-established players begin to realise that if they don't change they will soon become obsolete.
