Dr Nishanth Sastry, Senior Lecturer, King’s College London
With universities and other seats of leaning contributing increasingly to the development of both theoretical and practical technological innovation for a wide variety of vertical industry sectors, Dr. Nishanth Sastry is an academic with hands-on experience as a telecommunications specialist. Currently he and his team in the Infomatics Department of King's College, London, are working with the insurance industry on and at the confluence of communications technology and data. Dr Sastry says the challenges in this area, whilst complex are known and manageable but points out that many of the obstacles the insurance industry faces at it pushes to modernise are not technical but the result of reluctance to change organisational psychology and mind-sets.
