The Big Conversation: M2M and Internet of things - do we need a catch-all?

We've asked the question before so we thought we'd ask it again to see if anything has changed. What's the difference between M2M and the Internet of Things? There are some interesting replies here, including one respondent who maintains that neither definition is good or useful.
Let's try to find a term which might work better.
