18 October 2016, Beijing – Having focused on communications technology for the last three decades, ZTE has released three 4G multi-mode automotive modules in October 2016 to enhance the powerful world of the connected car. The three modules released are for the China, Europe and North America markets, and support GNSS, EU eCall, and FOTA remote upgrade to meet the tight standards of automotive electronics.
ZTE began to enter the module field in 2010, and has since accumulated a knowledge base that has allowed the company to tailor the ZM83XX series modules for the connected car, using a 32*32mm LGA packaging with compatible pins. The series of modules are in accordance with the AECQ standard for component selection, follow the PPAP standard production process and are in line with TS18949 quality control standards that allow for reliability, electromagnetic compatibility, long life-time, high seismic performance, and the ability to withstand temperatures between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius.
The ZM8330, which is designed for the Chinese market, supports the three major domestic carriers’ 7 mode and 16 frequency bands and is, in every sense of the word, a fully domestic network communications product, with a downlink speed of 150Mbps. The ZM8331 for the Europe and Asia-Pacific market supports TDD/FDD/UMTS/GSM with a downlink speed of 150Mbps. For the US market, the ZM8340 supports AT&T, Verizon, and other mainstream carrier bands, in addition to carrier aggregation technology, with a maximum download rate of 300Mbps. The three models are designed to be compatible with each other and easily adopted by automotive manufacturers. Taking into th[e account the need for customization by the automotive industry, these modules give customers a simple compilation environment and allow for quick integration and secondary development.
Currently, ZTE cooperates with many domestic and foreign automobile manufacturers to aid in the development of connected cars, while continuing to develop a variety of new products. Using ZTE’s in-car module, along with Headunit, Tbox and other programs, users can create a truly intelligent car model where vehicle data, internet data, and cloud services all interact together to provide strong and competitive comprehensive data services. This is a solid step forward for ZTE’s mobile broadband terminal business to expand into the growing automotive market.
