Charlie Ashton, Director, Business Development, Wind River
TelecomTV, in collaboration with Wind River, recently conducted an online survey on the subject of "What does "Openness" really mean?" Here, Charlie Ashton, Director of Business Development at Wind River discusses with Martyn Warwick, TelecomTV's Editor-in-Chief, the main findings revealed by the survey; what service providers really want from NFV; and the limitations inherent to a completely open source solution. Surprisingly, whilst a third of respondents to the survey are currently deploying an NFV system, 63 per cent of all respondents do not expect to get all the availability and reliability they need from a purely open source solution.
