NFV will provide new business models for Service Providers

NFV appears to come out of nowhere – but Lloyd Mayhew, Worldwide Business Development Manager, HP, speaking with TelecomTV’s Martyn Warwick at the 4th ETSI meeting of the Industry Specification Group for NFV, points out that there was a great deal of development and PoC work that led to the recent emergence of the technology onto the main stage. In the long term, service providers will benefit from new business models – in particular one of a targeted, IT-style ‘usage’ model – so individuals or enterprises will be able to pick and choose certain applications, which are in turn relatively cheap for Service Providers to deploy and scale.
