It's fair to say that Ericsson has, in the past, been criticised for its apparent reluctance to adopt the Open RAN specifications. There have been disagreements about the open fronthaul specification, for example. Mårten Lerner, head of the cloud RAN product line for Ericsson, responds to this criticism and goes into more detail about the ‘open lower-layer split’ of the open fronthaul specification. He also explains how Ericsson hopes to help evolve Open RAN towards deployments that will scale globally.
