Thanks to the network edge, central clouds are likely to evolve into a distributed network of clouds, all of which are connected to each other and holistically managed. But do we yet have a specified architecture, interfaces and APIs in place and how can an OpenStack-based edge host fulfil the MEC requirements? The Edge implies remote locations and small spaces, so what are the physical challenges of this distributed network of clouds? What sort of applications could benefit from Edge architectures and will we see new telco business models appear?
