Getting software developed and deployed to end users as quickly as possible is a key feature of the open source movement. Continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) are important aspects in today's agile and iterative application development methods, especially when working across projects and between different open source foundations. CI/CD systems is a key strategic area identified by the OpenStack Foundation. A recent workshop brought together eight different communities to discuss the challenges faced in the open source ecosystem, agreeing to create a new initiative called OpenCI.
