Chris Wright says that in its short life to date OPNFV has easily surpassed the expectations of the global comms industry. Initially it was thought that there would be a relatively slow build-up of understanding and information about the sector overall on the part of players with little or no such experience before later moving into the the successful completion of individual projects. However, things have moved much faster than expected as the industry has rallied around the cause. The latest statistics show that it gives OPNFV a 99 per cent success rating. The challenge now is to focus on upstream integration work closing the critical functional gaps that are worrying the service providers.
