Intel Select Solutions is a reference architecture that will aid partners and customers with the deployment of Intel's next generation processors. The company announced a collaboration with Red Hat this week, which is a derivative of its NFVi solution based on Red Hat enterprise linux OS for high performance networking and virtual machines. The agreement will provide CSPs with a fully integrated, best of breed NFVi reference architecture as a foundation for stable, efficient, feature rich and optimised NFV deployments.
NFV still requires a lot more industry convergence at the hardware level, as well as the VNF level. Using Intel Select Solutions, CSPs should be able to get a clear view of what a pre-integrated solution looks like and can take this evaluation information into account when finally selecting a production model. It would also help CSPs to gain more knowledge of which direction to go at NFVi selection process, having more concrete data points available.
