KPN recently invested in two promising companies through its investment fund that are active in the field of educational content subscription services (edutainment) and cybersecurity scenario training, Perlego and RangeForce respectively. Both companies can be an important addition to KPN's offering to its customers.
“KPN’s investment fund invests in promising startups and scaleups with strategic relevance for KPN. Supporting the growth of the companies concerned but also increasing KPN's innovative strength, says Hans Söhngen, Managing Director KPN Ventures. “We help accelerate the development of innovative products and applications of startups. This way we can enable KPN customers and society to benefit even faster from useful innovations and smart product solutions.”
Perlego wants to make education available to everyone and is often referred to as the Spotify for academic material because of its 'all-you-can-read' model. This makes Perlego the world's largest online subscription service for educational content and the platform offers access to more than 1,000,000 textbooks from a large number of publishers. Perlego's subscription model is offered to students – directly (B2C) or indirectly through universities and higher education institutions (B2B2C). Perlego is considered a great prospective addition to KPN´s growing partner portfolio in the Consumer Market including Netflix, Spotify and Disney+.
RangeForce offers a development platform that is focused on improving cyber skills for individuals and teams. A unique combination that allows companies to assess their security teams and consequently provide individual learning paths and team exercises to upskill highly needed cybersecurity talent. The modules and exercises are constantly updated to provide a broad range of relevant topics and tooling. RangeForce could be an important tool for both KPN employees as well as KPN’s (larger) business customers.
