Convergence at the aggregation point

By Martyn Warwick

Jul 15, 2014

Mike Schabel, VP Wireless Division, Alcatel-Lucent

When operators are developing both mobile and wired access (and many, including cable operators, are) it's become clearer that wired network aggregation points (such as DSLAMs) have become obvious places to site small cells, says Mike Schabel. There they have access to both power and backhaul capacity. These sites can also become aggregation points for other small cells backhauled, increasingly, by interesting developments in non-line-of-sight microwave being used in point to multipoint configurations. Every operator is looking at all possible options
