NEW YORK - Verizon has a long-standing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), including racial equity. In connection with that commitment, we have commissioned a third-party equity audit to assess and inform our ongoing DEI efforts in our internal workforce and externally in the communities we serve.
The equity audit will focus on Verizon’s key workforce DEI efforts including Verizon’s policies and procedures to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. It also will assess Verizon’s impact on fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the broader community through its supplier diversity, digital inclusion, reskilling and upskilling, and responsible marketing initiatives. The audit will be conducted by a team from Covington & Burling LLP, led by former Attorney General Eric Holder, which brings experience working with other leading companies on civil rights and equity audits. As part of the audit, the team will solicit input from a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including representatives from the civil and human rights communities.
“Verizon’s corporate purpose is to create the networks that move the world forward. We believe that undertaking this equity audit will support us in our efforts to deliver on this purpose, moving the world forward for everyone, and creating long-term value for a broad set of stakeholders.” - Sam Hammock, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
We look forward to leveraging the results of the audit to build on our ongoing DEI work and sharing information about the audit publicly once it is completed.
“At Verizon, we are defined by our values: integrity, respect, performance excellence, accountability and social responsibility. Undertaking this equity audit is consistent with these values, and we believe the audit will also promote transparency and accountability to our stakeholders.” - Craig Silliman, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative, Legal and Public Policy Officer
