CDN used to be an Internet technology but has now migrated right into the telco network - and not only to deliver video. Telco customers start with one particular use case and then very quickly their CDN becomes the media delivery network for all sorts of things - like software updates, says Paul Larbey, President of CDN specialist, Velocix, now part of Alcatel-Lucent. And the technology fits straight into Alcatel-Lucent's high leverage network strategy - driving down the cost of service delivery and opening up new service provider business models.
