Xinghe Intelligent Network – Accelerating Industrial Digitalisation and Intelligence

The Huawei IP Club Carnival in Dubai, held in conjunction with GITEX 2024, highlighted the integration of AI in network solutions to drive digital and intelligent transformation. Key points included the launch of AI-powered network products, such as 400G datacentre networks and Wi-Fi 7 campus networks, aiming to enhance connectivity and efficiency.

Huawei’s AI solutions are expected to contribute significantly to the global GDP by 2030. Specific examples included autonomous driving technology, which reduced accidents by 90%, and AI in medical diagnostics, which cut diagnosis time by 30%. The event also emphasised the importance of network reliability, security, and intelligent deployment in various industries, including education and commercial sectors.

AI is becoming a key driver in the digital economy’s growth, bringing huge opportunities for new value creation. More than 10 countries in the Middle East and Africa have released their national AI strategies and are investing hundreds of billions of US dollars into AI adoption, in sectors such as energy, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing.

According to third-party forecasts, intelligence will contribute US$16tn to global GDP by 2030. With the advent of the intelligent era, data communication networks will enter the Net 5.5G era and add intelligent capabilities to experience assurance, computing power scheduling and release, and network security protection

Network infrastructure has never been more critical in driving and supporting global digitalisation and AI applications, and speakers took the opportunity to share the latest developments of Huawei’s Xinghe Intelligent Network solution.

Mr Yury Yin, vice president of Huawei data communication product line, shared the latest Xinghe Intelligent Network solution developments to address specific use cases.

The first was about autonomous driving by companies such as Tesla, Google, and Baidu in China. After millions of kilometers of testing, only one accident was recorded, translating to a 90% decrease in the accident rate compared to human drivers.

The second related to medical diagnosis in China, where doctors can meet and diagnose around 100 patients per day, meaning only five minutes were dedicated to each patient, most of which was taken up enquiring about the patient’s background information, meaning effective treatment was relatively difficult. To address these issues, an AI-assisted diagnosis model was launched in China that can identify more than 4,700 tests and diagnose more than 2,800 diseases. The diagnosis time has been reduced by more than 30%.

The third was the use of intelligent inspection robots on railways that reduced train inspection times and costs by 80%.

To support these AI-assisted applications, networks need to evolve to Net5.5G. The key features and benefits of networks that can support AI-driven applications and improve user experience are:

  • Optimal application experience assurance by providing high-quality wireless and application experience tailored to different user needs.
  • Automatic and precise traffic scheduling where the network can ensure optimal user experience for key applications by intelligently scheduling and prioritising traffic.
  • Multi-layer reliability mechanisms that provide robust reliability features to ensure long-term, stable operation of business-critical applications.
  • High security and protection where the network provides end-to-end security to safeguard enterprises against emerging AI-powered cyber threats.

These features enable Huawei’s 5G network to effectively support the demands of AI-driven applications, such as low latency, high reliability and robust security. This helps improve overall user experience and enables enterprises to leverage AI technology to drive digital transformation.

To keep up with the Net5.5G era, Huawei launched the Xinghe Intelligent Network comprising four key elements:

Xinghe Intelligent Campus: Experience-centric campus network construction, Xinghe Intelligent Campus, fully upgrades the wireless experience. It ensures uninterrupted audio and video services by intelligently identifying applications and prioritising traffic in real time. Furthermore, the campus network digital map and NetMaster offer complete visibility at three levels (terminal, application, and network) and enable intelligence-assisted decision-making. This shortens the average trouble ticket handling time by 90% and enables one person to manage a campus with over 10,000 users.

Xinghe Intelligent WAN: By introducing a series of intelligent technologies, Xinghe Intelligent wide area network (WAN) delivers tangible benefits, such as upgraded intelligent network elements (NEs), automatic path optimisation, and intelligent scheduling of millions of flows. It also comes with an intelligent brain that proactively analyses and predicts potential network risks and automatically rectifies 90% of faults in minutes.

Xinghe Intelligent Fabric: By drawing on intelligent technology and a unique security policy analysis engine, Xinghe Intelligent Fabric can comb through 100,000 security policies in minutes and close service tickets on the same day. It also leverages algorithms to model the quality of application experience, proactively identify deteriorating application experience, and demarcate faults in minutes. Furthermore, Huawei’s unique iReliable technology enables superfast switchovers at three levels (link, device, and network), ensuring always-on services.

Xinghe Intelligent Network Security: Intelligence is integrated into network security detection. Specifically, 18 security detection models are generated based on Huawei’s cloud-based Qiankun security analysis platform, which achieves as high as 91% accuracy in detecting unknown threats. Additionally, automatic analysis with intelligent models ensures that 99% of security incidents are automatically handled in a closed-loop approach.

At the beginning of 2024, Huawei launched eight commercial industry solutions for healthcare, education, manufacturing, MSP, enterprise, retail, hotel, and the public sector.
