Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière Senior Executive Vice President, Innovation, Marketing and Technologies, Orange

Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière believes that the transformation, cloudification and virtualisation of the world's networks will inevitably result in some telco casualties. But, as she says, while some of the old beasts will die, customers will always need connectivity ands will always need more of it and that other players will rise to meet the challenge. She also thinks that 5G is much more than just another mobile technology and will eventually emerge as an all-pervasive set of technologies providing access speeds of 10Gbps and above accompanies by low latency and high capacity. However, the reality of commercial 5G services for the average subscriber remains at least five years in the future and much will depend on when 5G standards are finally agreed and ratified.
