Is it an ethical imperative or just a cost saving strategy for network operators?
Telecoms is an enormous consumer of power to serve the billions of customers and premises demanding ever better connectivity. Is there a more efficient way to organise the CSPs and lower that power consumption. Following the end user demand, is it simply impossible to reduce consumption so hence shifting to green power instead? Does emerging technology allow a vastly more efficient network to be built and operated. On the broader stage, do the benefits of telecoms contribution to the economy give the industry the license to consume power given the benefits of individuals, households, businesses and society being better connected? Is it an ethical imperative or just a cost saving strategy for network operators?
