Tokyo, September 13, 2016 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced the introduction of SAP HANA® to the NEC Group's core system, with the first live deployment from May 2016. Having already deployed the system for domestic NEC offices, deployment of the system for group companies throughout the world is scheduled to commence in November 2016.
This new platform was created for real time processing of management related Big Data accumulated in the core system and as a platform to support digital management. Moreover, NEC has been internally providing SAP's In-Memory Database SAP HANA® since July 2015.
Employing NEC's NX7700x Series, iStorage products, and EXPRESSCLUSTER X high-availability clustering software, the new platform makes full use of technologies such as the cloud-based service platform NEC Cloud IaaS and SI know-how relating to SAP HANA®, achieving full-scale platform redesign in a short timeframe.
"Compared to existing platforms, this platform redesign aims to cut the number of physical servers by 70%, compress the volume of data by 75%, and cut system operation costs, including the hours required for maintenance, by 25%," said Takehisa Sekime, General Manager, Management Information Systems Division, NEC Corporation.
"The ability to carry out real time analysis of management information required for decision-making through the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence), promoting the introduction of SAP S/4HANA® and incorporating a variety of data from each department, including information obtained using IoT, will enable us to further speed up management decisions in the future."
This latest achievement helps companies to reinforce their management base by creating and delivering a model that establishes a method for migrating large-scale systems in a short timeframe while at the same time ensuring system quality.
