For the first time, consumers can try out the Oculus virtual reality system in the Intel Experience sections at select Best Buy stores.

Powered by PCs featuring Intel processors, Oculus Rift VR headsets allow users to interact and explore simulated worlds – experiencing vertigo-threatening heights and realistic run-ins with creatures and characters.

Dozens of games and apps for the Oculus system are in production. And developers continue to stretch VR’s bounds, which are expanding beyond entertainment to workplace and other personal and professional uses.

“Virtual reality is one of the most exciting usage models for the PC to come along in years,” said Navin Shenoy, leader of Intel’s Client Computing Group. “It requires high performance PCs, and the most immersive, realistic experiences are supported by Core i7 processors. The Intel Experience inside Best Buy stores provides shoppers with a unique opportunity to experience Oculus for themselves.”
