Sue White says that Zero Touch automation is very difficult to implement because the communications environment is changing so much, so quickly. Networks have long been characterised by vertical silos (such as OSS) and the requirement for the transformed and automated CSP is for silos to be dismantled. That's the idea anyway but the reality is that the evolution to SDN and NFV is actually throwing up even more of them and all such monolithic new edifices will have to be automated both vertically and laterally if Zero Touch automation is ever to be an end-to-end capability.
